Improve Productivity

Tired of constantly needing to phone your drivers for an update on their location and ETA? Wishing you knew in advance that a shipment was going to be delayed or ahead of schedule?

GEOTrac provides dispatchers in oil and gas, transportation, freight forwarding and mining, the control they need to monitor the exact location of their fleet or shipment. Using a simple Internet browser, dispatchers can quickly view the coordinates on satellite imagery maps or custom detailed road maps. Our global positioning system and powerful reporting tools, puts the control at your fingertips.

Coordination - Coordinating the arrivals or departures of fleets or shipments has never been easier. With limited storage at dockside or loading bays, timing is everything. Early arrival or late departure can cause delays, confusion and loss of money.

Efficient - Do more with less. Efficient scheduling of shipments mean that you can make alternate arrangements, all from the comfort of your computer

Save Money

Text Messages vs Expensive Satellite Phones - Our solutions are the most affordable in the business, bottom line. Expensive satellite phones are now obsolete with the introduction of GEOTrac's two-way text messaging. It's everything you need without the expensive monthly airtime. Ideal for communicating updates in the field, requesting equipment or simply saying hello, our rugged mobile data terminal is simple to use and also provides a one-touch "Alert" button for emergency situations.

Fuel Consumption and Fuel Efficiency - The trucking industry is always concerned about the rising cost of diesel fuel for their trucks. GEOTrac can save your company thousands of dollars per day! How? Using global positioning systems we can monitor the speed of your trucks by calculating the distance between two coordinates and the time it takes to get from point A to point B. If transport trucks reduce their speed from 110 km/hr to 90 km/hr they reduce their fuel consumption by 25%.

As an example, if you take a round trip between Edmonton, Alberta to Grande Prairie, Alberta, it is 900 km. A standard day for many drivers. By increasing fuel efficiency from 2.55 km/l to 3.40 km/l, drivers save 87 litres when driving at 90 km/hr. The typical cost of diesel fuel in Edmonton at the time of publishing was $1.05, that's $91.35/truck. If a company has 50 trucks on the road, it's a $4,582 savings every day!

In the U.S., EPA data states that gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph, and that as a rule of thumb, you can assume that each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.20 per gallon for gas.

Additionally, according to the DOT, an average a truck burns .9 gallons of fuel per hour idling. So a typical owner with 5 vehicles idling for about 1 hour a day is wasting 4.5 gallons of fuel each day. At an average fuel cost of $2.95 US per gallon, that's $13.41 US a day, $93.87 a week and $4,894.65 US a year.

We also monitor downtime for vehicles and employees. Our ability to determine when a vehicle is idling or shut off, indicates that productivity maybe dropping.

In-transit Visibility - Having in-transit visibility of a company's asset reassures the company that although the shipment may be late arriving, it will eventually get there. This prevents companies from buying and re-shipping equipment that is time sensitive to the construction or operations of a project.

Lower Insurance Costs - Reducing theft of shipments and keeping vehicle insurance lower are two great ways of saving money. GEOTrac's in-transit visibility of shipments is reassuring for insurance companies who face rising costs to insure valuable shipments. That means lower premiums for you as a customer, as much as 20%! Our ability to monitor the speed of vehicles in your fleet and notify dispatch provides a comfort level to insurance companies to keep your premiums low.

Preventative Maintenance - We help companies monitor the status of their equipment. Running time, idle time, mileage are all strong indicators of the maintenance required to keep your fleet running smoothly. GEOTrac can notify your company in advance of costly repairs while keeping equipment running safel

Improve Safety

In the Canadian North the climate can be harsh. Much of the work in oil and gas happens at the coldest time of the year, winter. It's also the darkest. These conditions are necessary for transporting and using heavy equipment in the North. Ice highways across lakes, rivers and muskeg are used to travel to remote areas that would otherwise be impassable.

Ice Roads - These are dangerous conditions. GEOTrac is helping oil and gas, transportation and mining industries keep personnel safe. We can monitor the speed of trucks on ice roads and pinpoint an exact location if a truck gets stranded. High speeds on an ice road can cause waves under the ice. This wave breaks the ice at shoreline and causes a dangerous situation.

Alerts- In places like the Middle East, GEOTrac can be used to provide emergency "Alerts" if people are traveling in certain areas that are dangerous. Our portable tracking and communications kit (PTAC), goes where you go. Simply take this light-weight case and antenna with you and use our one touch "Alert" button to call for help.

Protecting the Environment - tracking and tracing potentially dangerous or hazardous materials through a sensitive ecological area to a work site, is critical. GEOTrac is currently being used to track and trace heating fuel that is transported by barges to communities in the far North. The McKenzie River Valley has become an important waterway for shipping fuel, medicine and food to residents in Nunavut, Northwest Territories and the Yukon. GEOTrac is watching overhead, making sure everything gets to where it should.

Reduce Speeding - GEOTrac can monitor the speed of vehicles and immediately notify a dispatcher to contact the driver to reduce speed on potentially dangerous roads.

GEO Fencing - Using GEO fencing, GEOTrac can simulate and enhance a RFID (radio frequency identification) solution for security. GEOTrac can alert a central dispatcher when a "tagged" vehicle or asset crosses a pre-defined map point. Rather than having a RFID receiver physically placed along a pre-defined route, GEOTrac can quickly erect a geo fence at any map point in the world and determine which asset or vehicle is the trigger.

Constant Communication Connection - GEOTrac provides "Lifeline" service between truck drivers and their families. Drivers can receive and send email for emergency situations at home or anywhere in the world. Satellite phones or cell coverage can be non-existent in remote areas, reliable two-way text messaging can sometimes mean the difference between life and death.

Natural Disasters - In catastrophic situations such as natural disasters, GEOTrac's two-way messaging is ideal because it relies on short burst data transfers. In cases of Hurricane Katrina or September 11, 2001, cell phone and satellite phone coverage was choked with high-bandwidth voice transfers and crashed the entire network. With GEOTrac that simple but critical message, gets through.

Save Time

Time is money. In many areas like the Canadian North, it is difficult to know the most efficient route to transport equipment or materials. Many areas are not mapped and roads are only known to few drivers.

Data Logging - GEOTrac was instrumental in mapping roads in the Canadian North using their GPS tracing as they were being built. A GPS device was attached to a vehicle at the time of road construction, and is now providing the most up to date maps to some of the most remote areas in the North.

Customizable detailed maps are being used by dispatchers to provide first-hand knowledge of field conditions on a daily basis. Our maps contain custom markers and the ability to save documents with detailed information right on the map. This allows a knowledge base to grow on the conditions of the field and can be shared throughout the company. This information saves valuable time when routing trucks or working in a particular area.

Automation - GEOTrac automates the information flow of timely and relevant in-field data to localized maps. This save a huge amount of time for dispatchers to keep routing information up to date. The information transfer from one dispatcher to another is immediate.

Turnkey - GEOTrac is a turnkey solution. We provide the hardware, web-based applications, reporting, mapping, inventory management, professional installation, training. Our solutions are quick and easy to implement.

Historical Data - GEOTrac's two-communication using SMS text messaging rather than expensive satellite phones is not only less expensive, but it also keeps a record of the communication in a inbox for the dispatcher to refer to later to take further action or store for up to one year. The transfer of this communication throughout the company for others to action also saves time vs writing out a phone call.

Broadcast Email - GEOTrac enables dispatchers and drivers to send and receive broadcast emails to a group of people notifying other drivers of dangerous conditions. You can't do that with satellite or cell phones!
