Out of Truck

Notification

Safely Working Alone in Remote Areas

GEOTrac has launched a dual-path, fail-safe

work alone service called Out of Truck

Notification.

Even with your vehicle turned off, the Out of

Truck Notification is actively monitoring your

time away on a job site.

Easy-to-use, an Out of Truck Notification

session is started by entering the time away

from the vehicle using a touch-screen

terminal.

Once a session is initiated, both the vehicle

and a remote database server begin a count

down. If an accident happens with the vehicle,

the remote server continues to count down,

sending a distress message for emergency

response.

Connected to a high-decibel siren, the Out of

Truck Notification alerts workers that a

session is about to expire. This pre-alarm

notifies the worker to return to the vehicle to

re-activate a session in order to continue

working onsite.

If the worker does not return to the vehicle in

time, a distress message is sent from the

vehicle via the data modem, through the

wireless network, to the Internet via the

GEOTrac Network Operations Centre. The

distress message alerts at the customer’s

GEOTrac web-based message centre.

Customers can also forward the distress

message to an emergency responder closer

to the worksite. Up to three responders can

be notified for failsafe back up. Dispatchers

will often forward a distress message to a 24

hrs call center for constant coverage.

Distress messages include details such as

location and vehicle identification.

If a worker returns to the vehicle in time and

drives the vehicle but forgets to terminate the

Out of Truck Notification session, the GPS

coordinate change will automatically

terminate the session. This ensures that

safety managers will always know the status

of their remote workers.

An added feature to the Out of Truck

Notification service is the ability for

dispatchers to contact a remote worker away

from their truck. If unable to call a worker on

a cell phone, because they are out of

coverage, the dispatcher can send a siren

sequence to notify the worker to return to the

vehicle for a message.

The Out of Truck Notification service is ideal

for working remotely outside of cellular

coverage. A third- party call center approach

to start or finish a monitoring session can be

flawed if the worker forgets to call back or

more importantly, when outside of cellular

coverage, contact can not be made. Accurate

coordinates of location are also not available

with this call-in approach.

Easy-to-use touch screen with pre-set time

options.
