Reliable Satellite and Cellular GPS and CommunicationsLaunched for the Canadian Oil and Gas IndustryGEOTrac Premiers New Solutions for Canadian Oil and Gas
Industry at the Peace Region Petroleum ShowMay 15, 2007 - Grande Prairie, Alberta - GEOTrac International Inc. today announced the launch of, what many experts are calling, the most reliable GPS tracking and communications solutions for the Canadian oil and gas industry. "GEOTrac is now offering a more reliable satellite solution than it has in the past," says Tim Hodge, CEO of GEOTrac. "We have added another satellite carrier that has a reputation for being dependable and reliable." GEOVision™ -
Low-Earth-Orbit Satellite VersionProviding in-transit visibility for fleet and asset management, GEOVision is premiering at the Peace
Region Petroleum Show on May 15th. This innovative technology uses a
low-earth-orbit satellite network that has been serving Canadian and U.S. military
operations around the world. Reliable and secure, the network consists of more than
66 satellites traveling at 27,500 km/hr. Circumnavigating the earth every 100
minutes, these motorcycle-sized satellites are hurling around the globe 800 km
above the earth. Ideal for Canada's northern oil and gas exploration, this satellite network has multiple North -
South orbital planes. This provides exceptional coverage and quality of signal
for operations in Polar Regions. As exploration for oil and gas continues to forge further and further North,
GEOTrac is ideally positioned to offer the industry's best fleet and asset
management using GPS and two-way communications. GEOTrac's new satellite version of the GEOVision service consists of new hardware built locally in Alberta. Using the
experience from current customers in the oil and gas industry, the GEOVision
data modem was collaboratively built by GEOTrac to serve this unique industry.
The GEOVision service also consists of a small, low-profile antenna that
provides both GPS and communications. Highlight of satellite features for GEOVision by GEOTrac:
GEOVision™ - Cellular
Version At the same time, GEOTrac has officially launched a higher bandwidth solution on cellular networks using
both CDMA and GSM technologies. Working with companies such as Bell,
Telus and Rogers, GEOTrac has been providing a solid GPS and communications solution to oilfield service companies throughout Alberta.
Whether it's GPRS or EVDO (data protocols for GSM and CDMA), GEOTrac customers can manage their fleet,
track assets, access the Internet, use their cell phones and take advantage of
the Asset Control Center 3.5, GEOTrac's web-based mapping and reporting engine. Common Features for Both Satellite and Cellular Solutions GEOTrac offers the best of both worlds through satellite and cellular service. Whether you need to always
be in coverage or require higher data usage, GEOTrac has Asset Control Center
3.5, the industry's best web-based mapping, reporting and administration tool.
The ACC 3.5 includes:
Point2It 3.5 - mapping service - customizable, interactive web-based map that has hyper-detail for the oil and
gas industry including lease roads, legal land descriptions and traces.GEOFencing - notification of enter or exit for a virtual area on a map. GEOTrac can create a boundary around a city, marker or LSD. New to the GIS industry is GEOFence to Road Segment. Customers can now create a virtual fence for a particular section of road. When an asset or vehicle that is associated with that geofence crosses the fence, a notification is sent via email or sms to a computer or PDA. Now customers can be notified when a vehicle is speeding across a section of road and take the appropriate action. Messaging -GEOTrac's satellite solution enables drivers to send and receive two-way text messaging with cellular-like speed. Drivers can send and receive messages between drivers and central dispatch. Cellular customers continue using their cell phones. Reporting - customers get accurate reporting on location by latitude/longitude, and LSD. Other indicators such as idle time, ignition on/off, start/stop are used for activity reports, maintenance reports, and operation reports. Speeding alerts are used by customers to improve safety of their fleet. GEOTrac's Customer Support Centre is available for customers when they need them. GEOTrac provides onsite, phone, email and self-help troubleshooting from www.geotracinternational.com. Professional installations for both cellular and satellite solutions are available onsite. A trained field service manager will coordinate any installations or repairs needed right from the customer's service bays. A complete training package is available to all customers.
